Welcome to the MiddleSchool!
The middle school years are a time of great social, emotional, intellectual, and physical change for young adolescents. In addition, middle school marks the transition from elementary to high school, so students experience increasing independence, as well as new responsibilities. Given all of these factors, middle school is a very important and challenging time in the life of a student.
I believe that students are successful when given a safe and nurturing school environment that includes high expectations, excellent instruction, consistent discipline, and a caring atmosphere. I will do my best to provide each student with this type of middle school experience. In return, I will ask students to make good choices and to show respect for themselves and others.
Students experience the greatest happiness in middle school when they achieve academically and fit in socially. The key to achieving academically is to stay on top of homework. Homework should be completed each night and turned in on time. If a student has difficulty with an assignment he/she should stop by to see the teacher for extra help during lunch, study hall, or after school.
Making friends and feeling connected to school is another important aspect of the middle school experience. At S-E we have many extracurricular activities available to students, including clubs, sports, and middle school fun nights and dances. I would like to invite each student to join at least one activity this school year! You can learn something new and make friends at the same time.
I am excited about the upcoming school year. I look forward to meeting each of our new sixth graders, and welcoming back our returning seventh and eighth graders. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. My door is always open!
Sincerely,
Ms. Emhof
