Sulton, Tenney lead Class of 2020

Valedictorian Layne Sulton and Salutatorian Laura Tenney 2020 

Sherburne-Earlville High School is proud to recognize Valedictorian Layne Sulton and Salutatorian Laura Tenney as the top two students in its Class of 2020, which will graduate on school grounds this Saturday morning, June 27.

Layne Sulton is the son of Michael and Diane Sulton of Earlville and will be graduating early because of his unparalleled brilliance, determination and work ethic. He has successfully completed the most challenging courses offered at Sherburne-Earlville, including honors, advanced and AP courses.

Layne also played varsity soccer for two years, earning special recognition for his performances during the CVA Tournament. He also was a member of French Club, National Honor Society and Acolyte at St. Malachy’s Parish.

A positive role model for students and faculty alike, Layne has a passion for engineering and will major in Mechanical Engineering this fall at Cornell University in Ithaca.

Laura Tenney is the daughter of Robert and Rosemarie Tenney of Sherburne. She is a very hardworking, detail-oriented, independent and purposeful person whose personality often makes others feel comfortable and welcome.

In addition to a rigorous course load that has included several honors, advanced and AP courses throughout high school, Laura also was involved in a number of activities that showcase her leadership and talents.

A Student Council Class Officer since her sophomore year, Laura also has been part of National Honor Society, concert band, marching band, chorus, musicals, drama club and her church choir. She plans to attend Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame after graduation.
