Return of School Devices and Materials:
Today, students in grades UPK-5 were scheduled to return all school materials (library books or Raising a Reader bags, iPads or Chromebooks, charging cables, etc.) in the parent pick up loop. If you missed today’s drop off, another is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16 from 4pm-7pm to return your child’s school devices/materials.
Students in grades 6-12 need to return all school materials (band instruments, library books, textbooks, calculators, iPads, Chromebooks, laptops, charging cables, etc.) on Monday, June 15 from 9am-3pm OR Tuesday, June 16 from 4pm-7pm. Materials will be collected in the BUS GARAGE. When you pull up to the bus garage, please stay in your car. Staff will come to you and take your materials.
Graduation Update:
After Governor Cuomo approved districts’ planning of “drive in” and “drive through” graduation ceremonies, he then announced that ceremonies up to 150 individuals can occur with PPE and social distancing. We are looking at options to hold an outdoor ceremony (or ceremonies) on June 27 and hope for an executive order that increases the number of allowable attendees. The S-E administration is still planning for a drive through ceremony in the event that weather would prevent an outdoor ceremony. Regardless, the ceremony will be live streamed on social media. More specific information will follow.
Final Weekly Update:
As instruction for the 2019-20 school has ended today, this will be the last Weekly Update. We wish to thank the S-E school community for your patience, perseverance, and dedication to the learning process during the school closure. It goes without saying that the pandemic has created a significant challenge for our students, parents, and schools to provide instruction and meals over the past 13 weeks. We are so very proud of everyone who rose to the challenge and maintained a focus on learning. The buildings may have been closed, but school remained in session. This is due to the dedication of the S-E staff, students, and parents to the instructional process. Who knows what lies ahead of us in the future, but rest assured Sherburne-Earlville will always rise to the occasion and be the best we can possibly be.
A Final Message from Superintendent Schnabl:
It has been my distinct honor and privilege to serve the Sherburne-Earlville school community over the past 22 years. Since 1998, I have had the pleasure of being a S-E teacher, high school principal, and superintendent. I am so very proud to be part of the S-E family and hold so many wonderful memories dear to my heart. Upon my first interactions many years ago, it was clear to me that S-E is a wonderful school that cares deeply for students and each other. In both joyous and challenging times, this community always rallies to celebrate achievements, comfort those in need, and encourage our students to become the best they can be. I bid you a sincere farewell and only wish that the last months of my career were not shrouded in the pandemic. I love this place and I love the people of Sherburne-Earlville. In my retirement, I will surely miss the daily interactions with my S-E family, students, parents, and the community members that make S-E such great place to be. Thank you for all the support and the happiness you have brought into my life. Sherburne-Earlville will forever remain in my heart. GO MARAUDERS!!
