Meet Our New Board Members

KERRY SIMMONS (Term 2023-2024)
Kerry Simmons grew up in our local area, graduating from Sherburne-Earlville CSD. After high school, she began her career with the purchase of the Sherburne Video business. Kerry developed long lasting relationships with community members during the 18 years she owned and operated the video store in Sherburne.
Kerry Simmons (11/2023) As technology began to change and Kerry’s family grew, she made the decision to close the video store. While closing a business is a tough decision, Kerry went on to develop a new skillset during her successful career as Manager of Skillin’s Jewelers and Conti Jewelers.
As her children grew older and became more involved with activities, Kerry decided to make a career change that would allow her to have more time with her family. Kerry currently works at DCMO BOCES as an Administrative Assistant for Instructional Support Services. She continues to expand her knowledge, and her current role has allowed her to take an active role in her children’s schooling and extracurricular activities.
Kerry has served the community and the Sherburne-Earlville Central School District as the President of the Elementary PTO for 6 years. During these years, she led the organization as it grew to become a well-established host for school and community activities that unite our parents/guardians and teachers for the shared goal of providing positive experiences for our children.
As Kerry continues to grow with her children, she quickly identified a beneficial opportunity to begin a Middle/High School PTO organization at S-E. She began the 2022-2023 school year in the Presidential role, collaborating with parents and teachers to create a new PTO. The organization had a successful inaugural year, and Kerry continues to support its success by serving in the Vice President capacity.
In her free time, Kerry enjoys reading, attending sporting events and going to the beach. You can always find her on the sidelines or in the stadium cheering on her children. Kerry is very excited to join the S-E School Board and looks forward to being a bridge between our school and community.
WILL TYRELL (Term 2023-2024)
Will Tyrell’s experience with the Sherburne-Earlville Central School District started in the Fall of 1991, when he moved from Lowville to North Norwich in his freshman year. S-E quickly became home.
Throughout high school, Will developed lifelong friendships and acquaintances. After graduating from S-E, he studied at the State University of New York, College of Technology at Delhi and earned an Applied Associates of Science degree in Veterinary Technology. After earning his degree, Will started his career in biomedical research at The Harvard Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, Harvard Medical School, in Boston. He was a surgical research technician and worked with research fellows in developing minimally invasive surgical techniques.
After four years at Harvard, Will became the laboratory manager for The Experimental Cardiovascular Interventional (ECI) Laboratory at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. The ECI Laboratory was a joint venture between the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to develop and study interventional cardiovascular technology and techniques.
During the spring of 2002, Will was given an opportunity to move back to the area to help run a family business. For the next 10 years, he helped his parents operate the family automobile dealerships, Smith Ford LLC and The Giant’s Warehouse LLC, which became a staple with the community for their service and charitable support of local organizations. After his parents’ retirement in 2012, Will started his career at Chenango Sales in Greene, where he is currently the General Manager and has been named Nominee Successor by Ford Motor Company. Over the past 7 years, he also started two businesses that are operated with the help and support of his wife, Veronica, and their daughters, Addison and Marley. Those businesses are W&B Powerwashing LLC and Tyrrell’s Tents & Rentals LLC.
Community involvement is Will’s main priority as he believes the only way you can be successful is if the community around you is successful. In the past, he has been involved with many clubs and community organizations. He was a member of the Norwich Lions Club and the Norwich Rotary Club (president for 2 years) and is the president of the Sherburne Area Little league. Will has been coaching within SALL for the past 6 years, with the hope that he has taught kids how to play and love the game.
Will took an opportunity to serve S-E by joining the Board of Education in September 2023 and hopes to bring a unique view to the board. He is not a formal educator, nor will he ever be, but he brings an open view that has both a scientific and business approach. He will question what he does not understand, applaud what he should, and stand up for what is right.
Will’s two daughters are coming up through this school district, and he wants them to have the best opportunity to succeed – just as he did.
Will believes through the hard work and cooperation of students, parents/guardians, educators, administration, taxpayers, and the community in general, Sherburne-Earlville can give our children an amazing opportunity to succeed in life.
JERRI WEBB (Term 2023-2026)
Jerri Webb grew up in our local area, graduating from Hamilton Central School. She broadened her horizons as she pursued higher education earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with dual minors in Political Science and Psychology from St. John Fisher College. Jerri went on to earn her Master of Arts degree in Childhood Studies from Rutgers University before returning to Sherburne to build her career and family. In her professional life, she is a Scrum Master for a Meta Scrum Team, driving improvements with procedures and robotic process automation at Frontier Communications.
Jerri values being actively engaged in our community and, as a graduate of the Leadership Chenango Class of 2022, she has gained exposure to the services, resources, issues, and perspectives affecting Chenango County. As a servant leader in our community, Jerri is a Board Member for the United Way of Mid-Rural New York, working to create long-lasting change in financial stability, education, and health. She is also actively engaged in our local youth sports programs and currently serves as Secretary for the Sherburne Area Little League.
In her free time, Jerri enjoys camping with her family and practicing her golf skills. She wears many hats as a wife and mother of two children, including scheduler, chauffer, and keeper of the uniforms.
Jerri is interested in representing our community as a member of the Board of Education as she strives to identify opportunities for positive change that will shape the future for our children. Transparency and accountability are important to Jerri; she believes that both are key to building the relationship between our School District and Community. Jerri is focused on providing the best quality and variety of opportunities for our students while also retaining strong educators and staff who are vital to that success.
